Much of the work of TinkerTech is mission-driven. But a for-profit model meant we could not reach all the communities we wanted. So in 2019, we launched TinkerTech Academy.

We teach early design and engineering to students in low income schools while inspiring teachers to create their own early STEAM curriculum to satisfy the new NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards).

TinkerTech Academy believes that ALL youth, regardless of income or ethnicity, deserve the opportunity to be prepared with 21st-century skills for future occupations.

The problem we solve…

STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) occupations continue to lack minority representation and that trend begins long before college and career — it starts at home and in schools. Low-income students who may not be able to afford a home computer or home WiFi are less likely to develop skills like coding. Likewise, underfunded schools in low-income areas tend not to have the high-priced equipment for STEAM learning programs or makerspaces. Therefore, STEAM programs are needed more than ever in schools that serve minority and low-income populations.
